BREAKING BARRIERS

Yoga Unchained facilitates Yoga classes, in our local communities to underserved populations in correctional, mental health, addiction and other wellness facilities, that may otherwise not have access to this healing modality.
We are working towards breaking the stereotypes associated with these populations not only in the community but within their own perceptions.

We also offer Yoga Unchained, Facilitator Training courses for those who would like to enhance their skills and knowledge.

EMPOWERING CHANGE

Through...

ind.

Teaching the skills, techniques, and practices of yoga to help each person unify their mental processes. Allowing the rational, emotional, and somatic brain to work harmoniously in the service of each person's recovery or wellness experience.

rganic.

Respecting the natural process of healing and recovery.  Allowing that process to take place on its own terms, in its own time. Honoring the attitude of "non-striving" in our practice of yoga, flowing with the natural healing and learning process as it unfolds.

nergy.

Connecting into and balancing personal energy, to bring it into an alignment that nourishes and sustains a person's recovery and wellness.  Creating the wisdom to harness ones energy and allow it to serve you instead of you serving it.

xperience.

Honoring each persons life experiences.  The "How" of arriving at the Yoga Unchained approach.  Then, sharing the Experience of yoga, The Experience of breath, The Experience of movement.

Encouraging all of these experiences to unite, to connect to a Holistic way of healing.

ranayama (Breath).

Exploring and respecting the power of our breath to quiet the mind, heal our bodies, and support us through experiencing difficult emotions, thoughts or actions.

isdom.

Appreciating that each person comes to the practice of yoga with the inherent resources needed to heal.  Allowing individuals to tap into and cultivate their own sense of internal Wisdom through their practice of yoga and begin to apply that wisdom to their personal life experience.

esilience.

Uncovering our innate ability to heal, survive and thrive within our lives.  Connecting to our natural healing process through yoga, brings an awareness that, given the right tools and mindset, we  can overcome anything. Quieting the mind to connect to our full capability to be or become resilient.

Training

Yoga Unchained, Facilitator Training Programs are open to professionals working in Corrections, Mental Health, Addiction, Wellness or other Helping Professions, as well as Yoga Instructors.

Created  by Dr. Jamie Marich of the Institute for Creative Mindfulness and Jessica Sowers HC, E-RYT of BodyBLISS Connection, LLC, this intensive training orients participants to the numerous benefits and tools that the practice of yoga can bring to the healing process across multiple helping and wellness professions. Participants will obtain enhanced understanding for how to best offer these interventions within their current scopes of work and practice. Explore and discuss various yoga practices and leave with the skills to facilitate a class to reach those who may otherwise not have the chance to benefit holistically from a yoga practice.
